| CASE STUDY 1
A Client requests the ability to use the telephone,
answer the door and call for help when needed. The Client uses an
infrared transmitter to control TV, video etc. in the home. A family
member or carer is at hand in or around the house or garden.
SOLUTION:
Fit a Videx 108 telephone exchange. This allows
for one telephone line and up to eight internal posts to be installed.
The internal posts are standard telephones. Fit a Dect radio phone
as one post and the Picomed IR telephone as another. Fit a door
call box at the front door.
OPERATION:
Incoming telephone call - any telephone post
can answer the call. Full privacy is provided for same. “Call
Hold” and “transfer” facility are standard with
music on hold.
MAKE EXTERNAL CALL:
Any post can cease the phone line and make
a call (including Dect and Picomed phones) with full privacy.
INTERNAL/INTERCOM CALL:
Any post can call an other post for full 2-way
speech/connection e.g. Dect call, Picomed IR telephone
call Dect etc.
DOOR STATION CALLING:
Any post can answer the door post with full
two-way speech and door release facilities.
EMERGENCY:
The Picomed IR telephone emergency call facility
can be used to automatically call up to four preset numbers, internally
or externally, i.e. The Dect radio phone. This then acts as a pager
system with fully two-way speech.
CASE STUDY 2
An elderly person living alone with poor moblity
e.g. uses a Zimmer frame. Callers generally gone by the time they
reach the door.
Standard intercom may be a solution and
should be considered first. However, if the individuals mobility
is very poor such that to reach an intercom handset is difficult
then consider the EK280S interface and supply a Radio (Dect) telephone
which they can carry with them. The radio telephone can then be
used to speak to the door and/or answer telephone calls. Emergency
numbers can also be programmed into the phone if required.
