Sound Security was founded in 1984 and built its reputation on hard, honest work to a very high standard. The Company has, as yet, no need to advertise for business as its reputation is transferred by "word of mouth" by satisfied clients. In the security industry the Company works to IS 199:1987 & Amendments and to this end is an NSAI registered company (IAS-019) having been approved in April, 1993. Sound Security at present maintains 200+ security systems consisting of commercial, domestic and industrial alarms. A 24 hour breakdown service is in accordance with IS 199:1987 is also provided. We are a C2 registered company. Full liability insurance is also carried.


Sound Security also install and maintain C.C.T.V., Intercom Systems, Electric Lighting Systems, Electronic Gates, Access Control and Key Telephone Systems. Within the entertainment area we install background music systems, satellite dishes and are SKY television agents.

Our sister company " Ideal Technology" installs environmental control systems with particular emphasis on the requirements of the physically challenged. At present we use X-10, GEWA, Picomed and Sicare technology. The environmental control systems may include items to allow individuals control their entertainment, door opening, window opening and various other activities with systems tailored to their particular needs. Ideal Technology is also a major distributor of environmentally controlled products with particular emphasis on Picomed IR products and Brangs Heinreichs page turners (see our Environmental Controls Products section).

David Carthy, owner/manager is a qualified telecommunications technician, City & Guilds electronics engineer and holds certificates in structured and fibre optic cabling and systems installation. In 1989/90 David obtained membership of the Security Institute of Ireland having passed, with distinction, their acceptance court. Course elements included Security Management, Law & Insurance, Safety & First aid.
